Random Rhythm
Neon orange puff
Fake cheese, fatty oils, stuff
I can’t get enough

I’m sure most of you remaining readers are already tired of reading about NaNoWriMo, but since it’s been awhile since I’ve constructed a poorly written form of poetry, I figured I’d give my brain a little hoop to jump through to end the night.
I give to you (ahem-hem)…
Sonnet of the NaNoWriMo Early Musings in semi-poetic form

image from Lochaven
Books blanketing the shelves, stack after stack
Their covers a tease, they beg to be read
I always hope to contribute to that
But dreams gave way to the need to be fed
Then I found, to my glee and delight
An answer for my pesky ambition
Nanowrimo: just sit down and write!
Of course, it came with a condition:
50,000 words in all of November
Quantity, not quality is key.
Yes, a feat not hard to remember
And yes, not sure what’s gotten into me
Insanity, sure, but finish I will
Afterward I have lots of time to chill

There is always something so bittersweet about vacation: it’s always refreshing, but at the same time a little bit daunting when you realize that it must inevitably come to an end.
At any rate, it’s back to the daily grind tomorrow — until the end of 2009, of course. Although a part of me wants to throw a mini-tantrum reminiscent of the days when I had to face the reality that my (insert season) vacation was over and it’s back to school and “I just don’t wanna don’t wanna go back noooooo”
… I’m thankful that I at least have something to go back to.
Besides, who knows what 2009 has in store?
The holiday was certainly fantastic, and I still have quite a few sweets to devour and regret devouring before I really need to buckle down and work and get healthy again.
And here is an impromptu vacation rhyme, Dr. Seuss-style (minus the fantasmical words)
Post Holiday Blues
Vacation came and vacation went
And I think about how it was spent:
Days of nothing and nights of stuff
This makes going back really rough
But now it’s back to the nine to five
To pay my bills and stay alive
At least I can still aspire
To the day when I retire
Glorious days! I cannot wait…
I just wish it were an earlier date.
I’ve always wondered why people love to pass up one of the best holidays ever - if anything, the one and true American holiday. What other day celebrates giving thanks in the form of eating, sleeping, and being all around lazy before the consumer-whoring craze begins.
Why aren’t there songs, or banners, or something commemorate this fine celebration of togetherness (and more importantly, food)?
This befuddles me.
In light of the absence of celebratory fervor, here is my little Thanksgiving haiku -
Food on the table
Friends and family gather
This is the best day
Ok. So I have to work on my haiku skills……
